The model was stitched on 28 count Cashel lilac linen using Gentle Art Sampler threads and DMC № 12 perle. To add a little bit of luxury, the whitework was worked in Gloriana silk.

This little sampler, in the tradition of a spot sampler, will make the perfect welcome by any door. Its small size makes it quick to stitch, and the wealth of speciality stitches it contains makes it fun to stitch as well. From delicate whitework bands to traditional sampler motifs this little sampler has a timeless elegance, and is ideal for the beginner to intermediate speciality stitcher.
The design is charted for either Gentle Arts Sampler Threads or DMC stranded cotton. But you could make the sampler unique by choosing your own threads. Just use the thread description as a guide and be creative! Some of the techniques used in the design work well in № 12 Perle thread. But if you prefer, you can just use stranded floss. I have designated one thread as metallic but, of course if you don’t want to use a metallic, you can substitute a non-metallic thread. However you choose to stitch the sampler, I’m sure it will be a very “welcome” addition to your collection.
