This chart celebrates the beauty of the wonderful gardens we see in castles and chateaux around the world. Formal flower beds abound, as well as fountains, topiary trees, statues and a wonderful wrought iron fence and gate. The Specilaity stitch version of the design is packed full of stitches to give texture and also to make it interesting and instructive to stitch. The cross stitch only version of the design is worked in cross stitch only, with a little backstitching. And, to make this design even more unique, you choose many of the threads yourself. Six of the colours are assigned — these are used for the walls, statues, urns and the fountain. I have charted these for DMC threads, but you can substitute a different brand of thread if you prefer. The rest of the choice of threads, beads and metallic thread is up to you. You will need three greens for the foliage and, for the all the wonderful flowers, you will need 8 colours of thread which I have called floral colours. You will also need one metallic thread plus two colours of beads to compliment your chosen threads. Be guided by your own personal preference, and the colour scheme in the room where the finished work will hang. Whatever your colour choice though, your Castle Garden is bound to be admired by all.
